Privacy Policy
PdfMonster (the “Service”) takes your privacy seriously. This policy explains what information the Service processes, why, and how it is protected.
1. Your PDF files
PDF files and images you open in the Service are processed only inside your browser. The Service does not upload, store, collect or view them. Your edits live in memory only while the tab is open and disappear when you close or reload it. For this reason the contents of your PDFs are not “personal data we process” under this policy.
2. Who is responsible
The Service is operated by Openbrain Inc., which decides how the information described below is used (the “controller” under laws such as the GDPR). You can reach us at [email protected]. Privacy contact: Dicky Kim, CEO, Openbrain Inc. ([email protected]).
3. Information we process, why, and on what basis
| Category | Details | Purpose | Legal basis (GDPR / UK GDPR) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Access logs | IP address, time of access, requested URL, browser and operating system information (recorded automatically by our hosting/CDN provider) | Providing the Service, security, troubleshooting | Legitimate interests (running and securing the Service) |
| Messages to us | Your email address and the content of emails you send us | Replying to you | Legitimate interests / taking steps at your request |
| Advertising data | Information collected by Google and its advertising partners through cookies and advertising identifiers on pages where ads are shown (see section 4) | Serving and measuring ads | Consent, where required (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland) |
The Service has no accounts and does not ask for your name, contact details or national ID numbers. We do not use website analytics tools.
4. Advertising and cookies
The Service may show Google AdSense ads on information pages. When ads are shown, the following applies.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google Ads Settings, and you can opt out of third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
- To learn how Google uses data in its advertising products, see Google's advertising policies.
- For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, we ask for consent before using advertising cookies and let you change your choice at any time.
- You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. The PDF editor works without cookies.
The Service itself does not store your document or settings in cookies or local storage. (One exception: if you click a language link, only your language choice is saved in your browser.) There are no ads in the PDF editing screen, and the advertising service has no access to the content of the PDFs you edit. Depending on where you live, ads served by Google may count as “sharing” of data for advertising; you can opt out through the links above.
5. Retention
- Access logs: kept for the period set by our hosting/CDN provider (usually a few weeks), then deleted.
- Emails to us: kept for up to one year after we finish handling your message, then deleted. If you ask us to delete them sooner, we will, unless the law requires us to keep them.
6. Service providers and international transfers
We do not sell your personal information. To run the Service we use the following providers, which process information on our behalf or under their own policies, and which may do so in the United States and other countries where they operate.
| Provider | What they process | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Cloudflare, Inc. | Access logs (IP address, time, URL, browser information) | Web hosting, DNS, content delivery and security. Cloudflare Privacy Policy |
| Google LLC | Advertising cookies and identifiers when ads are shown; emails you send us (Gmail) | Serving ads (AdSense) and receiving email. Google Privacy Policy |
When information is transferred outside your country, we rely on the safeguards these providers offer, such as standard contractual clauses or other approved transfer mechanisms. We do not share information with anyone else except where required by law.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of information about you, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email [email protected]. Because the Service does not keep your PDFs or other documents, requests about documents may not apply. If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, you can also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. If you are in Korea, see the “Remedies” section of the Korean version of this policy.
8. Children
The Service is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14 (or under 16 where local law sets that age).
9. Security
The Service is delivered over HTTPS and applies a browser security policy (Content-Security-Policy) that restricts connections to other servers, so that your files are not sent out even by mistake. Emails sent to us are accessible only to the operator. Securing your own device and browser remains your responsibility.
10. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we will post the changes and the new effective date on this page.
- October 18, 2026: first version.
